PRESENT PERFECT TENSE


Present perfect tense is the sentence that expresses a past situation or event and have still a contact with the time now.

Form of Present Perfect Tense
Affirmative
Subject + have/has + past participle +..........
Negative
Subject + have/has + not + past participle +..........
Interrogative
Have/has +Subject +  + past participle +..........?

Use of Present Perfect:  

  • To show past action or event in the past, but still continues 
Example:  He has lived in Palangkaraya for 30 years  

  • To show a recently completed action
Example:  She has just swept my room

  • To show a repeated action or event in the past.
Example:  Afika has gone around the world several times

  • To show the the actions that have just done, but time is not mentioned
Example:  She has locked the door, and now we can’t open it.
     
  • We can use are ever,never,lately,recently,already,just,yet,in the last few days/weeks/months,since,for
Example:
Have you ever gone to Jakarta?
She has been here since yesterday
  
Problems:
If we do not know very well about the past participle (Verb 3) we will be hard to make the present perfect tense sentences and still hard on the use of the present perfect tense
